Notes - Flora was born at Emmaville [near Glen Innes] in the residence in the Bank of New South Wales building, where her father was the branch manager. Her father was subsequently branch manager at Walgett, Dungog and Port Macquarie. Interestingly, her paternal grandparents [James Martin and Matilda Hetheringtonj were pioneers of Glen Innes, and her maternal grandparents [James Blair and Elizabeth Warlters] were pioneers of Port Macquarie, so Flora in her youth was familiar with both her ancestral areas in pioneer New South Wales.
Flora completed her education as a boarder and school prefect at Newcastle Church of England Girls' Grammar School.
Flora and her husband Ron retired to Killara.
